Our commitment to employee safety

We have been working with all of our team members, the Brooks community, cattle ranchers, health and labour officials, in a common struggle against COVID-19.

We have proactively identified and adopted more than 100 preventive measures at the Brooks facility to ensure a safe working environment for our team members, including:

  • Temperature testing all team members prior to entering the facility, including the use of hands-free thermometers and thermal imaging testing technology;
  • Providing extra personal protective equipment (PPE);
  • Providing face masks and face shields and requiring them to be worn at all times on company property;
  • Increasing sanitation and disinfection efforts, including daily deep-cleaning of the entire facility;
  • Promoting physical distancing by staggering starts, shifts and breaks, and increasing spacing in cafeterias, break and locker rooms;
  • Providing physical partitions on production lines, including plexiglass barriers;
  • Dedicating full-time staff to continuously sanitize high-touch and traffic areas of the facility;
  • Requiring sick team members to stay home - we will never punish anyone for being absent for health reasons;
  • Providing team members with immediate access to Canadian income support programs if self-isolating at home, and short-term disability provided by JBS if confirmed positive;
  • Offering free LiveHealth Online services that allow for virtual doctor visits at no cost;
  • Educating and encouraging team members to practice social distancing at home and in the community outside of work; and
  • Restricting access to our facilities, including barring non-essential visitors.
